Markant Installation at Pensthorpe
Set in a beautiful countryside location in Norfolk and required to cover a large outdoor space for shadiong and rain protection, the Samson team were tasked with specifying and installing a commercial system that provided shelter, shade and style for a courtyard cafe. The supreme Markilux Markant was the perfect choice for the job... The structure had to blend in with the beautiful surroundings and provide cover for around 30 - 40 people.
Specification
Samson were called on to survey, specify and install a system for a large outdoor seating area, belonging to the cafe of a Norfolk nature park, set in a courtyard. Adjustable shading and weather protection was required to provide cover for the outdoor seating area, holding over 25 customers who have visited the cafe and wish to relax outside, rain or shine.
The Markilux Markant was selected as the perfect solution, as two systems coupled together would create the large amount of cover that was required, measuring 11m x 6m in total. Markilux are a world leading high quality manufacturer of awnings and outdoor structures with their main manufacturing division in Emsdetten in Germany. A very large family owned manufacturer with highly developed outdoor living products, designed, tested and manufactured for Northern European climates and not just sun shade alone.

Controllable Weather Protection
The Markant has been effortlessly used in the Courtyard Cafe since its installation to provide convenient shade for customers, with the ability to control the different sections of the fabric roof system by one remote control handset. As the weather turns, it can also be utilised to shelter the cafe's guests from any rain and more unpleasent weather, made possible with the Markant's rainwater guttering system. Plus, it can be completely opened up and retracted whenever is desired!
Not only does it provide a convenient and adjustable solution, the Markant system was specified to perfectly suit the enchanting surroundings it was to be installed in. The framework was finished in Anthracite Grey to suit the cafe's re-fresh, consisting of grey-painted timber, along with the fabric of the roof showing off a subtle cream colour choice to complement this style. The modern, yet minimalistic design perfectly lends itself to the natural and beautiful landscape that surrounds the cafe. The tough powdercoated aluminium framework with a textured finish offers the very best protection against the aggressive British weather.
Any or all of the sides could also be filled at any time later if required for additional protection against prevailing winds and rain fall.
